This almond satay sauce is made with almond butter instead of peanuts, it's delicious and ready in no time! Ideal sauce for chicken, veggies, stir fries or salad bowls!

    Almond satay sauce

Satay sauce is one of my favourite asian sauces! Whether it's for a classic chicken satay skewers, stir fry, dip for rolls or salad dressing.

As a peanut lover that unfortunately doesn't tolerate peanuts well, I wanted to create a satay sauce recipe intolerance-friendly. And I am happy to say that this almond version ticks all the boxes and has all the goodness of the traditional sauce!!

What you need to make almond satay sauce

This sauce is made with simple and accessible ingredients, that you can find at any conventional supermarket:

    • Almond butter
    • Coconut oil
    • Lime juice
    • Honey
    • Tamari
    • Coconut milk
    • Water

    See recipe card for quantities.

How to make this almond satay sauce

This almond butter satay sauce is super easy to make, and you don't need any electrical equipment. Only a glass jar, a stick or spoon to stir all the ingredients together, and a couple of minutes!

1 - Pour all the ingredients in a glass jar.

2 - Stir well to combine until the consistency is very smooth!

    3 - Enjoy!! Couldn't be easier hey!

Hint: If you’re living in a cold climate place, substitute the coconut oil for sesame oil. Otherwise the sauce will be a bit solid. Or slightly heat the sauce before eating.

    Substitutions

    • Make it vegan - using maple syrup instead of honey
    • Use cashew butter- instead of almond butter. It would work wonderful as well.
    • Lemon - can be used instead of lime.
    • Sesame oil - instead of coconut oil if you live in a cold place.

    Top tip!!

Play around with the consistency of the sauce to make it perfect for you! Adding a bit more of coconut milk and water, you will get a runnier consistency. I do this when I am going to use it as dressing for salad bowls, like my satay chicken buddha bowl.
