Tip! The ingredients above are some of my favorite, but feel free to get creative with yours! Other ingredients like hummus, spinach, or canned salmon would work great too. If you can tolerate dairy, other ingredients like ricotta cheese, cottage cheese or cream cheese would also work wonderfully.
What types of rice cakes are the best?
There are a lot of rice cakes in the supermarket and choosing the right ones is important! I recommend looking out for rice cakes with minimal ingredients and no nasty additives. A combination of only organic rice and sea salt is ideal. I love these from Ceres Organic. If you can't find clean rice cakes in the supermarket, check your local whole foods store.
Savory rice cake snack ideas
What I love about the recipes I share in this post, is that with only a few ingredients, you can create a lot of different combinations.
Below are the base ingredients for most of the recipes:
Boiled egg: I like boiling the egg for 5-6 minutes to get a runny yolk. Did you know that a runny yolk contains up to 50 percent more nutrients than a boiled or cooked yolk?
Mashed avocado: mash the avocado in a bowl, and add a generous drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of salt. You can also add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice if you have it at home.
Cucumber avocado rice cake
This rice cake is simple yet delicious! Add a generous amount of mashed avocado on top of a rice cake, some slices of cucumber, and freshly crushed pepper on top. Optional to decorate with sesame seeds too!
Avocado toast rice cake
For a lower-carb version of everyone's favorite avocado toast. Spread a generous amount of avocado mash on top of the rice cake, followed by chopped boiled egg and halved cherry tomatoes. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper on top. A drizzle of olive oil to finish off is always a good idea.
Avocado, salmon and egg rice cake
All the goods in a rice cake 😋 With a base of smashed avocado, slices of cucumber, smoked salmon, and chopped boiled egg. Ground pepper, a little salt, and extra virgin olive oil on top.

For those who are after a great combination of protein & healthy fats. Combine a chopped boiled egg, canned tuna, and a drizzle of olive oil in a small bowl. Add to the top of your rice cake and top up with some sliced avocado. Sprinkle ground pepper on top.

You can never go wrong with this simple yet delightful combo. Spread a generous amount of mashed avo on your rice cake, and top up with smoked salmon and capers. Sprinkle some ground pepper on top.

Yum 😍 Adding some banana slices in between the peanut butter and chocolate is a great option as well.

Chocolate strawberry rice cake
Isn't this combo a worldwide favorite? Strawberries and chocolate belong together! I like to melt dark chocolate with coconut cream, it makes a delicious spread. But feel free to your your favorite chocolate spread, or use plain melted chocolate instead. Top up with halved strawberries. The juicy strawberries combine with the chocolate on every bite!
