A yummy and crunchy granola is the best! I love making my own granola, because it's super tasty, and much healthier & cheaper than the store-bought options.
If you loved my turmeric buckwheat granola, I'm sure you will love this one too!! It's also refined sugar-free and low in sugar overall. Full of healthy fats and so good! It pairs great with my coconut yogurt chia pudding and some fruit!

How to make this healthy chocolate granola
Making this healthy cacao granola it's super easy!! Just follow the simple steps below.
Combine the wet mix ingredients in a small bowl first. Then add all the dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl, & pour the wet mix on top.
Mix well to combine all the ingredients using a rubber spatula.
Lay on a baking tray with baking paper. Tightly pack until it's approx ½ cm thick. Bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius in baking mode.
Let it cool in the oven with the door open. Once it's completely cool, break down into small clusters, and store in an airtight glass jar.
Tip: be mindful of the oven temperature and time, otherwise you will easily burn the granola (trust me, I'm talking from experience 🙃).
Substitutions
There's a few substitutions you can make to this recipe, whilst still getting a super similar and great result:
- Buckwheat or quinoa puffs - instead of rice puffs.
- Nuts - mix and match your favourite nuts! Cashews and macadamias would work great.
- Maple syrup - instead of honey, if that's your preference!
Equipment
- Cup measurer
- Tablespoon & teaspoon measurer
- Large bowl
- Small bowl
- Spatula
- Baking tray with baking paper
How to store this crunchy gluten-free granola
Store in an airtight glass jar or container for up to a month.
Top tip!!
Be mindful of the oven temperature! This is my biggest tip because I learnt the hard way (yep, I’ve burnt a few trays of granola in the past and it was devastating).
I use the baking mode top and bottom and 180 degree Celsius for 20 minutes. If you are unsure, go for a lower heat setting to be safe. Always check the oven after 10-15 minutes to make sure it’s roasting but not burning.
