Let me know if you agree - life is better with dessert! But with a healthy one of course!!
I'm the kind of person that loves a sweet treat, that's why I love making bite-size desserts and snacks. Like my matcha coconut balls or my cacao almond energy balls. They're the perfect size to satisfy the sweet cravings without overindulging.

How to make these healthy cacao orange truffles
These healthy cacao truffles are super easy to make. Follow the steps below.

Chop the almonds in a food processor. In a medium-size bowl, add the coconut cream, coconut oil, honey, vanilla, orange zest and cacao powder, and mix to combine. Then add the almonds and shredded coconut and combine. Let it cool until the mix becomes hard.

Lay a tray with baking paper and form little balls with your hands.

Add a drizzle of melted dark chocolate.

Let them cool in the fridge and enjoy cold!!
Tip: melt the chocolate using the double boiler method so you don't burn it. Boil water in a medium size pot, and in a smaller pot or jug add the chocolate - see photo below.

Substitutions
There's a few substitutions you can make to these truffles
- Make them vegan - using maple syrup instead of honey
- Use other nuts - instead of almonds - cashews or macadamia would work great!
Equipment
You will need the following equipment to make these cacao orange truffles:
- Food processor - to chop the almonds
- Small pot - to melt the chocolate
- Small bowl - to mix all the ingredients
- Tray - to lay all the balls
How to store these cacao orange truffles
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days (otherwise the coconut cream will go off). Although I personally find it hard to have them for so long, they are too good not to eat quicker!
Top tip
Using a thick coconut cream is a must!! Different brands sell coconut cream with very different consistencies (some of them being very runny).
Either get one that is pretty much solid, or use the thick layer on top only (so do not stir the entire can).
