Description

These healthy cacao orange truffles are honestly SO GOOD! They're super easy to prepare and make the perfect healthy snack or dessert. Dairy-free & gluten-free.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup almonds (I used roasted)
  • 1/3 cup thick coconut cream
  • 1.5 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tbsp orange zest
  • 1/4 cup cacao
  • 1/3 cup shredded coconut (optional)
  • Fair trade dark chocolate to drizzle

Instructions

  1. Chop the almonds in a food processor.
  2. In a medium-size bowl, add the coconut cream, coconut oil, honey, vanilla, orange zest and cacao powder and mix to combine. Then add the almonds and shredded coconut and combine.
  3. Let it cool until the mix becomes hard (approx. 20 minutes).
  4. Lay a tray with baking paper. Form little balls with the hands and spread them throughout the tray.
  5. Melt dark chocolate using the double boiler method. Drizzle on top of the balls.
  6. Put the tray in the fridge and let it cool.
  7. Enjoy cold straight out of the fridge.

Notes

  • A thick coconut cream is a must!
  • You can substitute almonds for cashews or macadamia nuts.
  • Make them vegan using maple syrup instead of honey.
