Description

These steamed green beans are the best thanks to a family trick! They’re super easy to prepare, and make the perfect light and healthy side dish in less than 15 minutes! So next time you're thinking about making frozen green beans, try these instead.

Ingredients

Scale

400 grams of fresh green beans

Drizzle of extra virgin olive oil

Juice of 2-3 lemon wedges

Pinch of salt to taste

Optional

Black pepper

Red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prep: Wash the green beans and drain the excess water. Trim the ends and half each green bean lengthwise through their line using a sharp knife.

  2. Cook Green Beans: Bring a small amount of water to boil in a pot over medium high heat and use a steam basket accessory. Once the water is boiling add the trimmed green beans and cover with a lid. Steam for 3-4 minutes until they’re al dente.

  3. Serve: transfer to a plate and add a drizzle of olive oil, squeeze of lemon juice and salt to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes

Optional to add black pepper or red pepper flakes as well!

Tip! Avoid overcooked green beans by sticking to 3-4 cooking time.

Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days.
